Development of the Fundació Bofill digital portal
The challenge
Fundació Bofill is a non-profit with the aim of promoting transformation and social change in Catalonia — a research and proposals laboratory focused on education, which works to drive studies, debates and initiatives that create educational opportunities and tackle social inequalities.
Working with SaviaLogic, the foundation reached out to RSB to develop a new digital strategy that would revolve around updating their website.
The team flagged the previous site's main shortcomings, like a complex content manager (built on an obsolete Drupal install) and very little flexibility for the functional changes they would request from the platform's engineers.
In an initial digital audit RSB also identified very slow page loads, mainly caused by an outdated framework and a huge database poorly optimised to feed the website.
How RSB has done it
From day one RSB has proposed building a mobile-first site, with a simple, easily extensible content manager based on its own PHP framework.
In parallel, RSB has refined wireframes and designs for the entire platform so that — beyond showcasing the foundation's new brand image — usability and navigability were preserved in every section. A tricky task given the sheer volume of content, events and information that Fundació Bofill produces.
RSB as the foundation's digital consultancy
After several months of development, QA and training with the Fundació Bofill team, RSB has launched the site within the agreed timeline, and the platform keeps evolving to meet the foundation's growing needs. New languages, sections or ad-hoc features for specific landing pages are no problem thanks to the chosen framework.
It is worth noting that, again thanks to the flexible platform RSB built, the website could be adapted without difficulty to a paradigm shift around Events, moving them all online, which led the site through several updates that improved its UX accordingly.
RSB has become a digital partner for the foundation, offering ongoing support and consulting not only on the website but also on server configuration, mailings or the production of new landings or microsites to back time-bound campaigns or temporary projects, as happened with "Obrim Educació".
